About Us

The Ohio State University Health Plan Inc. (formerly Managed Health Care Systems) has been providing health plans and wellness services to more than 23,000 university employees and their dependents for nearly 20 years.

As an affiliated entity of the university, OSU Health Plan is contracted through the Office of Human Resources to provide the medical and pharmacy plans, secure the provider network, coordinate claims processing through NGS American Inc., and consult on overall health benefits and plan designs. This level of separation from the university assures confidentiality of employee health and medical information.

In addition, OSU Health Plan houses the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, University Health Connection campus clinic and wellness services offered through the former Faculty and Staff Wellness Program.

Those wellness services are still offered by the OSU Health Plan, but now flow through the Your Plan for Health umbrella, rather than the long-standing Wellness Program. They currently include flu vaccinations, biometric health screenings, Lunch and Learn workshops and health fairs. The OSU Health Plan also is developing health coaching, lifestyle management and medication management programs – all while maintaining the high level of service and quality it offers Ohio State now. Such programs will likely be introduced in the future.
